Copius Consulting has just completed an evaluation of the Respect Through Sport Programme delivered by the Belfast City Council. Consultants Helen Kerr and Conor Maxwell delivered the contract with the council, holding 16 consultations with over 180 young people, as well as interviews with community leaders, coaches and facilitators.

The Respect Through Sport Programme is a scheme designed to challenge and tackle prevalent issues in local communities including racism, sectarianism and inequality, through the medium of sport and exercise. 20 community groups from North, East, South and West Belfast took part in the programme over a 12 week period. The programme was funded through the Belfast City Council Peace III Programme.

Copius Consulting would like to congratulate the Belfast Indoor Tennis Arena and Shankill Leisure Centre for their endeavours in delivering a hugely successful programme for the young people of Belfast City, a programme that is distinct from traditional local authority leisure service provision and that will undoubtedly have a lasting and positive effect on a local civic society.
